Topic: Recent Security Attacks: Spectre and Meltdown
Panel Moderator: Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi, TU Darmstadt

Abstract: The panel is centered on the recently disclosed nefarious Meltdown and Spectre security flaws. These vulnerabilities impact billions of processors that have been on the market for more than 20 years. We shall discuss the flaws that have lead to these vulnerabilities, how the backdoors were leveraged by the research teams to conduct the attacks, as well as the impacts of such attacks by the malicious parties on our computing infrastructure. Other active discussion topics are methods to patch the flaws, and the affect of these attacks on designing new processors and programs in the future.
